This release candidate is a big one — smarter AI permissions, scheduled tasks for every host, and fixes for several issues you reported. Thank you to everyone who has been testing and sending in reports; several fixes below exist because of you.

https://files.weavers.link/f/n57A5a

🤖 AI connections now respect your user permissions

If you connect an AI assistant like Claude to your site, it now gets exactly the same permissions as the person who connected it — no more, no less. A blogger who connects Claude can ask it to draft and save posts in the blog they already manage, but it can’t touch anything else on the site. Admins keep full access, as you’d expect.

To go with this, the admin now shows you what any AI or API connection can actually reach:

The Permission Matrix has a new AI column per collection

The OAuth Grants page shows the real, effective reach of every connection

The Access Groups page explains how your groups control AI access too

No more guessing what a connected app can see or change.

⏰ Scheduled tasks without server cron

Some hosting plans don’t let you run scheduled commands — which meant imports and scheduled Automations could never run on their own. Now Total CMS gives you Cron URLs: simple links you can plug into your hosting control panel or a free service like cron-job.org. You’ll find them ready to copy in the Job Queue Manager and Automations pages. If your host supports real cron, keep using it — this is a fallback for hosts that don’t.

🎬 Video embeds are fixed

If your YouTube embeds recently stopped working with a player error (error 153), this one’s for you. A URL formatting bug meant the video player received garbled settings — YouTube used to shrug it off, but recently started refusing to load. Embeds now work correctly, whether your source URL is plain or copied from somewhere that pre-formatted it.

🔑 “Select Endpoints” API keys work now

When creating an API key, choosing Select Endpoints and picking specific areas (like Sync Manager or a single collection) didn’t actually work — only “All Endpoints” keys did. That’s fixed, and any scoped keys you already created will simply start working. If you had to fall back to an “All Endpoints” key for sync, you can now switch to a properly limited Sync Manager key.

📰 RSS import got a tune-up

Field Mapping works in the admin now — custom mappings were being silently ignored (the CLI was fine, which made it extra confusing)

Feeds behind Cloudflare no longer fail — Total CMS now properly identifies itself when fetching feeds, so sites that block anonymous requests let it through

The field-mapping panel now explains which column is which

⚡ Faster job queue

The background job queue was doing heavy database housekeeping on every single run and had no indexes — invisible on small sites, slow on big imports. Both fixed: large import backlogs process dramatically faster.

🔒 Security hardening

A fix for sites using multiple login collections with public registration: under specific conditions, a registered member could gain admin-level access by choosing a conflicting username. Single login collection sites (the vast majority) were never affected — but if you use public registration, please update.

🛠 Also in this release

Shared cache option for advanced setups where multiple installs point at the same data folder (cache.domainScoped)

Time limits for job processing on shared hosts that kill long-running commands (–max-seconds)

Custom user-agent option for RSS importsThis release candidate is a big one — smarter AI permissions, scheduled tasks for every host, and fixes for several issues you reported. Thank you to everyone who has been testing and sending in reports; several fixes below exist because of you.

As always, this is a release candidate — please keep the reports coming. Happy building! 🚀
