Convert Files in the Finder — Consul App

Just wanted to let everyone know about a file conversion utility I discovered called "Consul." It literally can convert just about any format into any other in the same category. I just used it today to take the HTML from Joe's Email stacks and convert it to PDF and then sent that to a client to show what an outgoing email would look like.

Here's where to get it: https://getconsul.app/

TIP: This app puts an icon in your menu bar. Once installed you will need to choose settings to tell it what folder(s) to watch or have it watch the entire system.

Beam App

Hi everyone,

I built Beam, a Mac app for people who publish websites to their own web hosting or for client websites and want a faster workflow than traditional FTP tools.

Instead of relying on slow file-by-file uploads, Beam is designed to make deployment faster, clearer and more reliable.

What Beam focuses on:

  • faster website publishing

  • resumable uploads

  • backups before release

  • rollback if something goes wrong

  • a clearer release workflow for client projects

I built it because publishing websites to regular hosting still often feels more painful than it should. Beam is my attempt to make that process smoother for web designers, freelancers and small agencies.

Beam is available in English and German, and one project is free to use, so you can test it in your own workflow.

You can check it out here:

Feedback is very welcome.

Jochen Abitz Could you walk me through the steps for integrating the project into your app? I received an email from you and downloaded the program, but I’m stuck on setting up the auth token—where do I get it? A step-by-step guide for integrating the project would be great.

Jochen Abitz

Hi Dominik, there is a setup procedure video on the website:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG47nSRh1do

You’ll need to set the token. It’s like a password.

There are to ways to install the Beam-Helper on the server:
manually by uploading a folder or with the Beam Helper Stack.
You only need one way.

You define a token there and in Beam in the project settings you fill in the same token. That's it.
Please let me know if you need any further help.

UPLOAD Failed

Hello, I'm having issue uploading via rapidweaver - the credentials are working via FileZila or any FTP Client...but it doesn't work in RapidWeaver - any ideas why?

Does the test button work? Verify FTP vs SFTP.

David Gatti

It doesn't work. I tried both FTP and SFTP

How do you use this shortcut? Do you select a photo in the project and perform an action? Can you describe it?

LaPan

Run the shortcut. Choose a photo. Paste the text into your alt text area.

Wins - Window Manager for Mac

Wins is on sale for Black Friday - 40% off one-time purchase. I use this all the time. Great Cmd-Tab enhancement, and Dock Previews (amongst other things).

Low memory footprint, too - WAY less than AltTab and Dockdoor, which I used to use to get the same functionality!

I just watched the video. Their website made me initially think it might suck. But wow... that actually looks pretty cool!

Chris Powers

Just got mine! Thank you for the heads up!
