I have a really awesome release for you guys today. Many of your saw Feeds on the live stream earlier this week. I think it will be another game changing stack for the community.
Feeds is made of two parts...
External Data Sources
Feeds allows you to import data from every major type of data used on the web today.
CSV - Local file on your server, from a URL, or pasted directly into the stack.
RSS - RSS feeds from your favorite blog or service.
JSON - The defacto standard for APIs throughout the web.
Total CMS Blog - Because that is definitely an industry standard blogging engine!!!
Database - Support for 5 leading databases on the web: MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, Postgres, MS SQL
The database connections require the Feed DB Pack. This is an additional addon purchase. I have plans on shipping additional data source packs in the future.
Templated Layouts
Once you have your data, you can create a layout template with your favorite stacks. This template will then get replicated for each record that is brought in from the data source. You can even merge multiple data sources into the same layout!
Injecting the data into your layouts is really easy, especially if you have used the {{mustache}}
style macros from a few of our other stacks.
These layouts also support multiple filters and sorting so that you can display the exact content that you want.
Feeds can really add some power and flexibility to your websites. The Feeds demo doesn't even scratch the surface of what is possible. It should serve as a great starting point to kick off ideas for you though. I cannot wait to see what you build with it.
