Stacks.app is coming ๐ŸŽ‰

In various other channels around the RapidWeaver/Stacks world, there have been some discussions that I felt that I should weigh in on for everyone here. I feel that it's better to lay everything out early.

So let's get to the big news right up front...

๐ŸŽ‰ Stacks app is coming ๐ŸŽ‰

Obviously we all love Stacks. It's our favorite tool of choice to build our websites. I am so stoked that Isaiah decided to expand his wings and release Stacks as a stand alone app. It's been something that we have all been waiting for a very long time.

This means that your entire Stacks toolbox will be able to go along for the ride. All of your existing stacks will continue to functions with Stacks.app. This should make the transition very smooth.

I, along all of the other stack developers, am working very closely with Isaiah to ensure that Stacks.app will be everything that we have all wanted for so long. There are still a lot of details being worked out that I cannot get into just yet. I hope that we can share more details soon though.

I will say that it will be exciting to see Foundation and all of the other stacks have a tighter integrations at the application level. Foundation and Total CMS being upgrade to 1st class citizens can provide us with a lot more functionality. This means better workflows that will be able to open up an entirely new world that we didn't have access to before.

The initial goals for Stacks.app are to get a functional, solid application onto your hands as soon as possible. As of right now, there are no plans to ship a Stacks plugin for RW9. There is a possibility that this may or may not happen after Stacks.app ships.

For now, your projects should just continue on as usual. The current version of RapidWeaver and Stacks will continue to function for a long time. When the time comes, Isaiah is committed to importing your existing Stacks projects. You can work with confidence that you will be able to keep using all of your stacks for many years to come.
