How can I set an asterisk behind a word without influencing the following typeface?

I want to set asterisks behind some clients' names, because the projects were performed together with an other designer, whom I mention in a separate line below (like a footnote) with an asterisk and his name: – *) surname, last name – . But anyhow I try it, the asterisk(s) influence the typefaces of the following text.

The problem arose as I wanted to add the asterisk also behind "ARAL". How can I avoid that the typefaces change? I only found out that, if I set an asterisk in front of the following word, then the first word's double asterisk works as a single asterisk in the visible text.

Or can I use an other symbol that looks like an asterisk but isn't recognised as such by the system?

Here I want to set the asterisk also behind "ARAL":

So how can I do that without influencing the following typefaces (Berker, Deutsche Post etc.)?
