I started writing this a couple of days before the Stacks Summit last week. Time got the best of me and SO MUCH has happened since then, so I get to redo it all… I keep that awesome posts from the community of course. This is probably going to be a big one.
So Stacks Summit 2025 was amazing. I know that it might sound cheesy that it was the "best one yet." But it really was! Every single speaker brought such great value. One of the highlights for me personally was a huge surprise organized by Chris Powers, Ryan Dalby, Joshua Omilian, Davide Fanchin, Scott Williams, and Bill Burden. (Sorry if I missed any other conspirators.)
These scalawags conspired with my dad and my son to present me with an award during the Freelancer Panel. I had ZERO knowledge that any of this was happening. They gave me a lovely plaque showing their appreciation for my work and dedication to the community. I am honored and I will cherish this forever. I will do a post about this soon. I have been busy wrapping up all of the summit stuff like replays (which are all up by the way).
I wanted to also say thank you to Adam Jackson, Arlen, and Allison Haywood for posting thoughtful reviews on the community. Thank you!
Now another big even happened alongside the summit… Stacks 6 Beta is HERE! I know that we all haver been patiently (and some not so patiently) waiting for this day. There is a lot of cover. I posted a lot of resources that will be important to look over if you are new to Stacks 6.
There is a new Stacks 6 Beta space on the community. please post in the Stacks Beta Space instead of messaging Isaiah directly or posting bugs. I’m staying up to speed on development and can help with most questions. This keeps things organized and frees up Isaiah to stay focused on building the app, so we all get to the final release faster.
Ok, time to dive into some of the posts from your fellow weavers the past few weeks…
I designed some wallpapers for the Stacks Summit. Feel free to download and enjoy!
Arlen build a new website for a client. Have a look and give him some feedback.
Mari was about-to-go-gangsta on a Foundation form, trying to get it to send email via a Google account. Josh came in the for rescue with a reminder on what you need to do in G-Suite to get this working.
Massimo was trying to use Feeds to display tags from a Total CMS Blog. I came in with some twig kung fu.
I have spent quite a bit on some lifetime software deals at Appsumo. I feel that these are some really great pieces of software. The best ones I have seen in a long time.
Gary wanted to add some newlines/returns into a mailto link. Thanks to Erwin for saving the day!
Joshua has shipped a New Signature Pro stack. This is a quality stack for adding signatures to your forms. It's good.
Jochen learned some twig-ninja-moves to create a custom blog list using the Feeds stack.
Graham learned how easy it is to create a back button using the Foundation 6 button stack.
I have 10mins until the hangout starts today. I hope to see you there!
Before I go, let me tell you about a happy dad moment I had recently. The weekend before the summit, Jessica had a national qualifier volleyball tournament in Reno. Out of 164 teams, the girls came in 9th place! We were undefeated the entire weekend until a team from Texas knocked us out. That team went onto win the entire tournament. However, we were the only team to take them to 3 sets the entire tournament. Jess played awesome! I took 1500 photos that weekend. I finally went through the photos last night and removed almost 1100 of them for being out of focus. I am pretty sure that is a new record for me.
OK, I hope to see you at the hangout today! I am sure we will be talking about Stacks 6 a lot. Thanks for being a valuable member of this Stacks and WS Community. I truly appreciate you.
Cheers,
Joe
